So Thursday is the day when I spend an hour on a bus to get to Glasgow Fort to buy my T5a. Now the question comes is that my intention was to ride it home(8.5 miles give or take). As I'm a bike builder in my job(Toys R Us) I have a general idea of what I should check "out of the rack". Could someone with a little experience give me a checklist to confirm my thoughts. Also will the store check the bike before I leave with it?

I've bought three bikes from Decathlon in the last five months (for myself, wife and 8 year old daughter) and in every case once we've chosen what we wanted the mechanic has got it up on the stand and checked the brakes, nuts and bolts, indexing etc, before letting us loose with it.

if you are a bike builder from toys r us you can be assured that decathlon WILL fit the forks the correct way round!
i think you should be fine mate, if, when you pick it up, you get them to stick the bike on the stand and go through the gears theyll tweak any last bits needed doing, only leave when its perfect
glasgow store is never that busy so they should have time there and then

I picked mine off the rack and waited around for twenty minutes while a mechanic checked everything was as it should be. Safe to ride home.

Due to recent posts on here about damage sustained during transit or on the stand, I would make sure you are happy with the bike before you even hand it over to the mechanics. Check it all over so there are no issues later.

Yeah check it for damage and chips in paint. 3/5 had at least one mark or scratch when I went for mine

As above, they will check the bike but it's important that you do a check too, even ride it right there before parting with the cash. It's my experience that they will ask you to ride the bike any how just to make sure its right with you.
