Hello,
Forgive me as I am a newbie.
Just got a new T3 red 54 cm. Bike was not setup properly when got it so lowered seat so legs have slight bend when extended.
My problem is the handlebars, they are too low and hurt my wrists with the weight on them. Would moving up a size make a difference to a 57?
The bike does look small, I am 5 foot 11 and my mates are saying it looks like a kids bike when I am on it!
Any advice?
Thanks
John

Way to small for you. You need a 57 or close to a 60. I think the 57 would be a better though.
54 you'll be feeling to cramped and will have to have raised the seat very high in relation to the bars to make your legs fit.
I'd recommend find a 57 but I know they are near enough impossible to get hold off.

Agreed. A 57 sounds more like it for your height, but inside leg and reach measurements also have to be taken into account as one 5'11" can be very different to another 5'11".

Try this: www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=FIT_CALCULATOR_INTROIt's free and you'll need a friend to help but it takes 8 measurements and is probably the best fit you'll get without paying for a RETUL bike fitting from a LBS. You may find a longer stem and other variables are what's wrong rather than frame size as we're all different or it may confirm you're on too small a frame. I'm 6"2&3/4s and ride a 57 which my other measurements tally up to (well the fit actually says a 58, but that's not a Triban size!) when conventional bike sizing wisdom would say my height dictates a 60 and potentially a 63. That fit calculator gives you the choice of three different types of fit too: competitive (the modern fit i.e smaller frame, longer stem and raised seat position), classical (like Merckx used to ride) and casual (Sunday leisure riding kind of fit).

I do only have 30.5 inch inside leg and a longer body! Have you tried flipping the stem over? If that doesn't work consider getting a longer one. With proportionately shorter legs the 54s seat tube is about right but you need to extend your reach.

Would decathlon have a problem in swapping for a 57? Probably have to be a different bike as no t3 red in stock anymore. I would be happy to upgrade to the t5.

Think I will pop down to Bolton this afternoon with the bike and see what they say. I got it in Stockport.
