Hi
I picked this beauty up last night and will be out on her tonight. However a question, borne out of naively and newbie status.
What's wrong with the wheels and tyres? Tyres maybe I can understand as I don't want punctures to spoil my rides but the wheel thing I haven't grasped. I am going to be doing about 80-100 miles a week on mainly country roads for fitness. I am about 11 1/2 stone. The wheel weight doesn't worry me as I am about 3 kilo off ideal body weight anyway.
Grateful for any wise words from you guys & gals
Thanks

There's nothing wrong with them. They're just the same as everything else, there's always some thing better and more expensive. They're basically budget wheels and tyres and by upgrading you'll probably notice a smoother (and maybe faster) ride. Oh yeah, new wheels look much cooler!

Thanks. I was concerned I was really missing a trick. I have my bike on a cycle to work scheme with the idea that I sell the bike after one year once its mine. Then I use the profit from that to help towards a higher spec bike for the following year. At the moment I can't justify Β£100 on Shimano wheels. New wheels are nice lol. Same as a new lens on my camera. But i must stay strong!

It's also the fun of tinkering with the bike and wasting money on only something a man can understand and the missus gets upset!

My family are biked out! My 10 year old rolls her eyes at me when I even mention the word! However she's more enthused when I ask her to come for a ride.

I've found no problems. 1300 miles and only one puncture. No other problems.

Do make sure you put grease in the hubs; mine were boned ry when i bought it last week. Also the hubs were way to tight; so some proper setup will help you out a lot! I've ridden the hutchinson equinox for ages on the front of my daily bike, no problems whatsoever.
Good luck with it; one of the best purchases of the year for me!

Will probably do a straight swap when they wear out.
