Hi. Does anyone have any recommended YouTube links or the like for road cyclist specific stretching exercises? My thighs seem to have been constantly tight since I bought my 5a a few months back and I've really no idea whether or not the basic stretching I'm doing is actually beneficial. For every one useful video on YouTube there must be ten hopeless ones, so just wondered if anyone has a regime that they use and swear by. Thanks in advance.

In addition to the above, some 'warm-down' exercises would also be useful. I find my current regime of "flopping down into the sofa, and moaning Oh God" isn't really that helpful the next day when movement is required.

the tightness will stop as your muscles get stronger. No pain no gain. do you have protein drinks etc after rides they help muscle repair and recovery etc

Can't say I've ever bothered with warmups before I get on the bike (it would be pretty impractical to do it before my commute!), in cycling you aren't really in danger of overextending any muscles or ligaments like you are in other sports like football, tennis etc so I'm always dubious as to its value unless you are doing some a competitive event. As long as you don't go haring off from the start, your body should warm up nicely over the first couple of miles.

It really depends whatyour condition is, when i play fives i find if i don't stretch i pick up more niggles and aches, but i appreciate cycling is a lot different to football. Can't hurt to do them though.

I just jump unto the bike for work. Do a number of loops in the yard to cool down. On Sunday runs I do leg stretches but thats about it really. I do workouts three time a work for core muscle build up so that must be working, as I don't feel that much ache and pains as I use to in the early days.

I can upload a scan of the exercise sheet the physio gave me to stretch legs etc I found it helped but it's all pretty simple stuff, basically just stretching the calves, quads and hamstrings. For them to do any good they need about 3 sets of about 30+ seconds stretch on each leg.
