Well at last the cycle to work voucher is on its way and the T5a is reserved. Saturday is pick up day!
Any tips for my first ride out on a proper road bike since I was a proud owner of a Raleigh Racer when I was 13.
Cheers

Thanks I will heed those words. I have been doing about 70 miles a week on a 20 year old Ridgeback 601 made of concrete with 1.75inch wide tyres. I have a feeling the new steed will be a very different ride! Gotta chase my pal down on his Specialized Tarmac Comp!!

My T3 was the first racer I've had since I was a nipper. It all felt a tad strange at first. Very narrow but very nippy. As you can see by this fab forum we are all well and truly hooked. Enjoy.

This forum is everything you want in a forum. Helpful. Informative. Witty. Friendly.
It's not wrecked with pointless argument over look what I have got. It's all about enjoying yourself on a bike.
What's the point in worrying over 500g heavier mechanics when there's 5 kilo extra on the 'engine'
Great forum!
Glad to be part of it. Cheers to all the people who put so much time into it.

I'd be climbing the walls waiting for a new bike.

Haha @ Whitestar. Great stats. My name is based on what I want to be... I am 49 and have discovered cycling. A great discovery! Second great discovery is Decathlon where you can get a great road bike for under Β£600. I guess I will have to name my T5. Problem is that the mrs will get jealous!
Anyway the last 2 replies are just what the forums about. Good humour and fun on your bike.

If you have been getting that sort of mileage under your belt, you will be able to take in some big rides once you are used to your T5 (and chase your mate down too). Like the other guys say, choose quiet roads and take it easy for your first couple of rides until you are comfortable with the bikes handling. They are very different machines to MTB's. Most of all enjoy it. Welcome to the Tribe mate!
