Delighted to hear that as the OH and I are doing LEJOG starting 24th August , and have been having a bit of a 'how much/little can you get on a T3' discussion.

I ask becacuse I have and love the area and am wondering why you are going JOG to Inverness. It is well worth a diversion if you have the time and like remote areas. We are certainly including it with our JOGLE setting out 2 weeks after yourself. triban3owners.freeforums.net/thread/1477?page=1#scrollTo=23101

It'e a timing and age thingy!
While we'd love to do Cape Wrath (the Cape Wrath trail has been on my list for ages) the arrangements have centered around 'getting off Colonsay' where there's only one ferry a week. So we have to be down there on a Saturday, so we have to be at Oban ...... and so on backwards! Age? well it's a how far and fast can I pedal before my 60+ body says 'no more'. Just had an elbow problem sorted, and have a physio on my back next week! We're not doing a 'fast and furious' JOGLE and are doing the scenic route (my OH keeps looking at the map and playing 'why don't we visit xxxxx ..... it's only 15 miles off the route') Credit card touring too.... a single small bag each!

We walked up onto Cape wrath many years ago and camped overnight there - fantastic. We were really lucky with the weather conditions and got to see a mock mirage sunset (http://aramok.co.uk/photo_3402946.html) whilst we were walking back... We don't plan to go to Shigra (lovely little beach campsite) this time around - too far off our trail as well which is a real shame. Not sure what our time scale will be, we have 2 weeks to get my Husband to just south of Warrington and another week to get me all the way. We are camping and taking all our own kit and will have to carry at least 2 days of food (I'm allergic to dairy, so we have to factor that into account). We have opted to go on our expedition bikes rather than the road bikes. Easy enough to average +50 miles a day and I suspect we will end up closer to the 70miles a day mark given we are travelling light - so 2 rear panniers and the tent for my OH and 2 rear panniers and my canon EOS 5D mkii for me... which actually weighs more than the new tent we have just purchased! We may stay with the 'world tour' tent for the first 2 weeks though - depends what he wants to carry... What bike I carry on on from home to Land's End - cycling by myself for some of it (some of the T3 gang are keen to ride with me, which will be great for morale and company) will depend largely on how I feel and how much kit I leave behind at home. The new tent is only 1.6kg, but will mean I will need to leave the big camera behind and carry on with the little camera...
I looked at the Colonsay and also the Islay ferry options and had excluded those islands as result. We may even get over to the Outer Hebridies if we feel like it at Ullapool... both of us know the islands well, but it would be nice to see where my OH worked when he was based on Benbencula for 2.5 yrs (2 weeks on, 2 week off) and somehow I never managed to get there during that time!
Best wishes - are you doing a journal. I am setting on up on CGOAB as we speak, but have yet to publish it, so it is not visible - mostly because we have not actually told our families yet that we are 'doing it'! there will be major concerns from all of them re: my health with me having been so ill recently, but I have never been one for letting that stop me when all I need to do each day is cycle and not care about anythign else!
