Hi all, meant to post this the other day. I was in Lidl the other day and noticed that coming up, tomorrow in fact, they have a wireless heart rate monitor (chest strap style) which sends info to a watch (comes with a bike mount). For Β£13. Info from their website: A precise training aid to help monitor your performance Heart rate is wirelessly transmitted from chest strap to watch Features include: - Current, average and max. heart rate - BMI calculator and calories/fat burnt display - Stopwatch - Time, timer, calendar, alarm and hour chime - Bracket for easy mounting to bicycle handle bar 3 year manufacturer's warranty
I can't see it being ANT+ compatible, or the data being exportable to anything else, but if anyone is after a cheap HRM to aid training/fitness, this might be a good buy.

Got one last time they were out about 3 Months ago does its job and hasn't failed yet No ant plus, use it on the rower and risk the count 14 playing friendly on the bike Sturdy watch that can be battered about a bit if you like that sort of caper, cheap and good

If you don't have a cycle computer or don't want it linked to it, then this is not half bad for the price. 3 year guarantee as well. Good spot perni. However if you have ANT+, the Geonaute strap would be a suitable at Β£30. How accurate and reliable it is - no comment. Also look out on ebay, you can get Garmin used heart straps for Β£20. I can recommend these. Worked well with my C14+.

If Lidi runs out I can also recommend the Geonaute 310 off Decathalon website. Been excellent for me and very reliable. From memory cost about Β£25-30 with postage. Can set zones and alarms on it and gives data for your ride when you've finished.

I haven't even gotten around to using mine that came with the Garmin bundle. Actually not sure how to use the thing. Anyhow been concentrating on utilising the Garmin and finding it great. I should have a look at the HRT soon.

I haven't even gotten around to using mine that came with the Garmin bundle. Actually not sure how to use the thing. Anyhow been concentrating on utilising the Garmin and finding it great. I should have a look at the HRT soon. I'm not quite utilising this key tool either. I'm using it to record my heart rate for viewing and comparing later only. Ideally one should be using HRM to train and fix at what levels they are pushing ones body. The C14+ has target zones too for what you would like to be in between and it will buzzer if you go above or below. Sure Garmin will do it too. This is a very complex but useful area if you can be patient to read into it. My fellow serious rider uses heart rate zone interval training to improve fitness. I think you cycle doing a couple of hundred meters at mid range then for 50 or so meters flat out to reach Vo2 max (I think). Here's a diagram he sent me for differing targets dependent on goal.
