I've paid my money and taking my chance of doing the Meon wiggle sportive this weekend .I'm only doing the lightweights version 55mile (read into this you tart you should train more) I'm just wondering what the bloody hell to expect ? My brother in law who is a much more experienced treader says "oh lots of Wiggo types on one of those" so now I'm thinking dip toe lose leg moment ahoy

Not yet, but doing the Haywards Heath Howler shortly.
I would expect the usual mix of people on any sportive. By the Wiggo types, I presume he means all the Full Kit Ws/All the gear and no idea crowd?
You'll love nipping past kitted out "pros" on Β£3K full carbon setups on the slightest slopes

No, not done one as yet but thinking of this one in Oct - Wiggle White Peak challenge
If i do then think i'll just go for the 60 miler, although there's plenty of time yet. I'm actually out that way next weekend and thinking of taking the bike so i'll be able to weigh up some of the route.

Don't worry about it. You're there to enjoy the ride and if anything compete against yourself. YOUR goal should be to complete the ride and see how fast YOU can do it so relax, enjoy the ride. The "wiggo types" will shoot off with the other wiggos and then everyone else follows at their own pace. Most riders are jolly non aggressive type and are just keen to see so many cyclists in one place. Plus, you may surprise yourself and you'll take on the 3k carbon crew cubegame mentions.

Wiggle rides IMO are very good I've done MTB rides & I am doing the Mendip next month . Good signs & well run just go at your own pace & make use of the feed stations , check out the weather & be prepared .

Not done wiggle one but did an evans ride it one and couldn't have been more impressed both organisation and friendliness of other riders. Got in with 2 groups (lost first with puncture but next group stopped to give me hand as I'd blown front and rear tyres!) and nothing but compliments for the red machine!

I've done a few bike-events sportives and they are good fun, informal events.
Every one starts off spaced out over a few hours, and there's no timing of people's lap times so 95% of people ride in a relaxed manner with only a few groups of wiggo wannabes.
