Anyone tried the new cycle route addition that the new update brought? Just wondering if it's accurate or not? I find the road directions good when i'm in the car.

I've not used it extensively but it has been useful in showing alternative/unknown routes.
The one big problem for road cycling is that it will often include cycle paths that can be grass, dirt or heavily populated with kids/walkers, not ideal for road bikes. I always try to check the satellite view.
The other issue is that it is not always aware of short cuts or public paths, meaning it can send you (literally!) around the houses. But then if you don't know the area you don't know you're missing a short cut!
It's only a real problem when trying to plan and estimate ride distances when you know you will use a short cut that is not on the map. The good news is that you can now edit the maps to add them.
I do use the Google 'My Tracks' app to record rides. That works really well.

Same here you have to be careful with canal/parks pathways that are actually used by the bike map.
