I'm average rider but can honestly say the cadence measurement and the bike computer as an addition to the bike did help in improving riding. I would recommend cadence sensor. I would also recommend not being as broke as I am at the moment

Well done that's some good going! thank you, most of it is 20 or 30 miles in the evenings and 40 or 50 miles Saturday or sunday, I don't bother to much about kom on strava if I get them all well and good, I just like to put the miles in keep fit and enjoy the cycling My sentiments entirely......It would be great to have a KoM one day. I just use it as a motivational tool to monitor my progress. I'm not ready to bust a gut just yet and I don't think my gears would hack it if I tried. That's one of the other upgrades I want to do eventually. Well done on your efforts......keep it up!

I,m using it to track whether I'm getting any fitter or not. It would be interesting to see what kind of mileage people are doing on their tribans.............. I use the Android app. It's OK but if you look at the maps closely, the route doesn't always follow the roads very accurately. Tonight's ride shows me trundling through people's gardens and the woods on Weald Common. app.strava.com/activities/68283629Quite a few people post their rides in the "Who's getting out there?" thread. The Triban Owners Club on Strava is at app.strava.com/clubs/triban-ownersYes I have noticed that I apparently ride through bushes and trees when I have a closer look.....Found the Triban club on strava thankyou.....was starting to think I was the only one......have seen a few tribans around locally but obviously not on here......have to wear a t-shirt next time I'm out with the forum link written on it (joke)

I would also recommend not being as broke as I am at the moment I'm going to try setting my recently purchased Crivit cycle computer up as a cadence sensor. I already have a Sigma one for the other readings.

I use strava and find it a great motivator, joined in april and got my triban in june, 900 km so far which i am delighted with. Cycling does become a bit of an addiction when u enjoy it. app.strava.com/athletes/1987223

Some impressive millage martin. I can't see using my smartphone for Strava, actually don't think there is a Strava app for mine. Either way doubt battery would last and chance I'll break it lol. Dedicated unit I think it will have to be but with a HR strap and cadence/speed sensor, it's going to add up :/ What phone you got. I use my phone to log my ride then upload the file to strava.

Nokia Lumia 920. It's Windows Phone 8. I'm sure there are plenty of clone apps that will export gpx and I assume I can import that into Strava. Hmm maybe I can turn my old HTC into a 'dedicated' cycle gps unit. If it falls and breaks then not bothered. Food for thought.

Yep, I'm on WP8, recently switched from Runtastic to Endomondo. Get the file from the Endomondo website and upload to strava.

What do you do? Switch off all services apart from GPS? Leave the screen running or off? How accurate do you find speed indication?

I had big problems with Runtastic and battery life. Endomondo is much better. Just make sure wifi is off and you should be good for 4-5 hours. Spped SEEMS to tally with the onboard computer.

O, good recommendation man. Installed it on spare phone and just used it while I was walking to the shops and recorded the GPS fine. Got home it was synched and I could export it as gpx. Do you then import into Strava?
I've done no more than that so I assume there is alot more to it but it's better than the walk-run-cycle app I used previous which would stop recording everytime the screen went off.
Tell me, is there any benefit in buying a mount for the phone viewing the app while you ride or do you just get to record gps and put in jersey pocket?
