Hi Guys,
I'm currently shopping around for a sub Β£500 Road Bike and discovered the Triban 5 which seems almost too good to be true. Problem is that I am unsure about getting the right frame size on this model. I am 5.10 with a 30 inch inside leg and am considering either the 54cm or 57cm frames. A few years ago I had a Boardman Road Bike with a 53cm frame (medium) which was spot on after returning the 55cm (large) to halfords because it felt too big. After phoning the guys at Decathlon they seemed to think a 60cm would be right for me but that seems WAY too large in my estimation.
Don't have a car or live near a store so stuck to buying online "blind" (so to speak). Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I have a T3, I think the frame dimensions are the same on the T5. I am 5ft 10 as well, and I have the 57cm. I was worried before I got it that it might be too big, but it is perfect and reckon a 54cm might be slightly too small ie saddle would be too high over the handlebars. However, you may get away with a 54cm if you flipped the stem over (this will make the bars slightly higher). I'd say 60cm would definitely be too big, my mate is 6ft 1in and he tried my 57 and reckons it is fine, so he bought a 57 too!

Which branch suggested a 60? That's insane.
First, make sure that leg measurement is as accurate as possible. Use the book method, and not just your trouser size.
I'm almost the opposite to you in terms of body proportions.
I'm 5'9", but my inside leg is 33 inches. I went for the 57 as I need the room to stretch my legs.
I would think you could get away with a 54 but 57 would be better.
EDIT: I have a T7

Thanks for the swift replies! Psyclepath, I think the 57cm would suit my height quite well but possibly be too big for my short inside leg (actually only a 29" by standard measurements) and I'm thinking that slightly too small is better than slightly too big. But yes the 60cm sounded way off to me also. Ohoward, It was the warrington branch that suggested the 60cm frame. Annoying thing was that they don't currently have any in stock but recon they will be getting them in over the next few weeks. A bit nervous about buying online but those specs are hard to ignore at that price and the paint job has steadily grown on me too!

ohoward did you start off on the T7? I thought you had a T3/5? Are you still looking to upgrade then to the FC?
Tudor, from my sizing experience with Triban, you should be spot on for 57.
