old vintage (and what appears to be steel) bike in the bin stores in my apartment block: It definitely needs the rust on the framework sorting out and the derailleurs also look like they've seen better days, but as a project just how doable could this be? I already sink enough money into my T3 without a second bike, but so tempted if it only requires some TLC!

Rust on the frame shouldn't be a problem unless it's really attacked the welds. You might get away with just new tyres and chain (use the old T3 tyres?), spray GT85 to free up any seized gear / brake parts. Just time really over cost, worth doing as a cheap chuckabout commuter / leave outside the station bike. Lots of people get these converted to fixies too What is that plastic bag around the bottom bracket doing though? If it needs new bottom bracket cranks then that complicates things a little bit I suppose.

I've picked it up before work this morning as a kind of birthday present to myself, I'll take a more thorough look tonight and see what does need fixing as like you say it would be good to have as a cheap runabout!

Turn it into a fixie or a single speed! Ideal for a run around.
