In terms of wear I must admit had no issues with the stock tyres (on stock wheels). Done just over 1300 miles on them so far (bought it in January) and yes definitely showing some signs of wear now but still fine and only ever had one meeting with the Puncture fairy (went over massive pothole on sportive and blew both front and back tyres!).
I always pump them up before every ride to about 115psi and had no issues. My only critism is grip in the wet is not good in anyway! However in dry seem fine. Will need to replace soon (reckon I'll get another few 100 out of them first at least) then will put either Rubino or Rubino pros on depending how bank balance is at the time!)

ive been using the original tyres and rims for nearly 12 months, and there is nothing wrong with them at all, I have a set of rs10 and 30's I use for racing, but for everything else its the stock wheels.
I switched to a set of Vittoria tyres in January when my originals needed replacing, and then quickly switched back to a new set of the stock tyres.

I daren't say how many punctures I've had, because that would be a jinx.
However, I think preparation is key to the issue. make sure that you're carrying the right kit and can repair a puncture properly (and this will also mean easily). You'll want a decent repair kit and good levers; the decathlon ones are good BTW.
The good news is that tyre seem to come off the standard T3 rims without too much of a fight. Mine is fitted with Michelin Dynamics (in red) and one the first things I did when I got it home was to make sure that I could get the tyres off with just a couple of levers I usually carry
This might sound a rather strange thing to do, but it was brought about by watching eldest son snapping tyre levers to get his on/off *. This was in a nice warm kitchen with good light etc. He was almost crying with frustration, and wondering how the hell he was going to achieve the same at a roadside.
(*PLEASE do not tell me it's just the right technique, because it's not the case I know how, but we couldn't even get the first bead on the rim! We eventually found that the rim tape was far too thick, and everything worked better after we'd changed it.)

Have the sidewalls not started cracking up on yours? They did on mine. I know strictly it isn't necessarily a structural weakness but it doesn't inpsire confidence! Have you had any punctures on them at all? The Thread count isn't great on them I don't think so theoretically punctures should be more likely.

never had a puncture, the Originals have a puncture protection layer, nothing on the tyre itself to say as much, but if you take finger and thumb and feel the tyre itself (inside and outside) you can feel its there, and plenty thick enough. but there are a few cuts as you would imagine and the sidewalls have some cracks, but as you say its not structural, I was worried when I first saw it, but that was many many miles ago. Also dont be over concerned with thread count, its a bit important if you are racing and have a chase car following you with spare wheels, but its also marketing rubbish. Higher thread count also means less rubber, and thinner threads so they may be more prone to puncture. Also Read this about TPI www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/bicycle-tires-puncturing-the-myths-29245/Unfortunately the technology that pro racers feel is important seems to be marketed to consumers as a must have

There's a lot of variables. The only thing that seems certain in my experience is that it seems more likely to get a puncture if the road surface is wet, presumably as the water helps foreign objects to stick to the tyre and then lubricates them through the wall. Interestingly I go out on a club ride most Sundays for over 40miles in a group of 20-30 people. Someone probably gets a puncture every other week. So I suppose the chances of getting a puncture = 25 people x 40 miles x 2 = once every 2000 miles. Not very scientific I know but that seems like quite good odds and those that do get the punctures MAY have worn out tread or be underinflated. These runs have been very dry though for the last 3 months since I started.

just to be "that math guy" the correct formula would be people x miles / .5 (assuming 1/2 a puncture per week) same answer, just does not make my OCD go mental

I agree with fact that stock tyres have done me fine for 1300 miles and counting, however grip in wet is poor. Very interesting about the TPI

i dont have a problem in the wet, mostly because I dont ride in the wet, thats what the MTB is for But when I do get caught out on a damp road I havent had any real grip issues, maybe because I have the 25c rather than 23c
