Sorry if this has been covered already guys, but are carbon seat posts worth the cash? I've seen some say they take a lot of the bumps and rattles out the ride, is it a noticeable difference or just something the more advanced cyclists pick up on?

I paid £26 for mine.
Instantly I could notice it felt smoother to ride. I do have a lot of seatpost showing and the post is thinner diameter though so it possibly flexes more.
Main reason I bought it was for the bling and because it matches carbon weave on the forks.
Is it worth it? Probably not.
Am I glad I bought mine? Hell yeah!

To be honest i thought they'd cost a good bit more than 26 bucks, it's not a great deal to take a gamble on really.

Wow, that's cheap was that a special deal/lucky find? I've been tempted to pick one up myself once payday rears its head again. I noticed someone had posted a Cannondale C2 carbon seatpost for a similar price as yours although that turned out to be just a carbon wrapped seatpost so I didn't bother.

@toonsi, nope I bought one off eBay direct from Hong Kong.
A lot of people (including me) are sceptical of good bought from Asia but the advert showed test certificates and good feedback so thought I'd take a punt. I also have a work mate who has bought several carbon mtb bits from China and he's never had a problem. In fact most parts are probably made in those same factories anyway.

TBH most of the factories are where the parts for the majority of bikes are made, I did some research myself a month or so ago and found you can even go to Planet X's stockist direct to save a few bob on the frames if you're only after that (and you can get it customised with your own decals). It's a bit like Merida manufacture Specialized's bikes for them and so on.

Do you have a link for the seller at all? At £26 I might have to change my mind.

Nope, my Cannondale C2 is totally carbon not wrap. The earlier ones were I believe. Cost me £20. When I say totally, obviously not the clamp.
I originally posted in the deals/reviews section here.

Thinking of a carbon seat post one day too. Wiggle has one for £32.39 - Tifosi Carbon .
