Hi all,
I just ordered a t3a(White) and realised now that all of the great reviews are for the t3(red) as theyve replaced the shimano drivetrain and it no longer has a carbon fork! These are the two things people were giving it great reviews for.
This is going to be my first road bike, I did a fair bit of research and found that everyone was in agreement that the t3 was excellent value for money, is this still the case with the white one? I'm a little disheartened now but I still don't think I'll get a good entry level road bike for less.
Could anyone who has a white one raise my hopes for my first new road bike?!
Thanks!

I have a red myself but would not hesitate with a 3a if buying today. The carbon fork is a bit of a luxury I admit but unless you are doing side by side comparisons then you aren't going to notice the difference. Just get out and ride the wheels off it.

Thanks for your quick reply and for raising my spirits hah! I will be using it for commuting and going to university, only around the city, but I've wanted a road bike for a while after cycling on terrible mountain bikes and bog standard halford's bikes that were on sale. I know nothing about the technicalities which is what scared me when I realised it didn't have the carbon fork, I've just seen a lot of stuff about the red on here and nothing about the white, I was worried that the white was rubbish!

Totally agree with Ger get on the bike you will enjoy every minute of it. Loads of T3a's showing here everyday. If I was buying mine for the first again I wouldn't hesitate buying one at that price. Enjoy yourself.

Given how thin the fork blades are, it has me wondering if it is steel, not aluminium. If thats the case you'll probably get decent vibration damping but with the added weight. not to mention the increased strength.
Another advantage, because it has no carbon on it you get a lifetime warranty on the frame and forks!! My T7a only has a 5 year warranty
My hybrid had a Microshift front mech and it never gave me any trouble, I cant speak for the rear or the levers but I'd have no concerns about owning a bike with them.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking in that price range.
Hope you enjoy it.

Although I have no direct experience the t3 white is still an excellent bike for the price, and it doesn't have those annoying thumb shifters.

My previous bike had thumb shifters. If you spend any amount of time in the drops they're a real pain in the arse. The Tiagra shifters are great.

I have to agree with ohoward, the thumbshifters are a pain on the drops. Like them on the hoods though.
I dislike them so much I'm thinking of replacing soon.
To the OP, I like the look of the 3A, personally think the colour scheme is great. You could always upgrade the forks to carbon for not too much money if you shop around.

I really don't like spending time in the drops though (obviously not a real racer! ;-) so it really doesn't bother me as I find the 'finger press' on the Tiagra a bit of a phaff. Each to their own though.

Although IMO the red is the one to go for (if you can get hold of the right size), there is nothing that should stop you buying a white T3. Maybe I'm wrong but there still isn't an entry level bike that is as good for the price?
Welcome to the family!
