A friend of mine has just bought a new 9 speed racer and the chain was noticeably slim. Regarding all the problems with chain rub with the front mech, has anyone on here upgraded to a 9 speed chain? Has it worked/alleviated the problem? I've got a voucher to use from Wiggle and they have a 9 speed S-ram chain for Β£10, was thinking of giving it a go.

Idiot question, but will I have to take any extra links out of the new chain to make it fit? Ta.

Count the links in original and use chain tool - method via YouTube. Went 1 more with mine as also fitted 11 - 28 cassette.

Hhhhm.........I have replaced my chain a couple of times now with an 8spd specific - but always thought...'does the chain REALLY NEED to be this chunky?'
Anybody running a 'slim-line nine speed job? Does it work ok with a typical T3 set-up?
Is it in fact, BETTER?
Be interesting to find some of this out.
