To get in the top 10 or 20 in anything around here you have to be flying - if I get anywhere near the folks below I'm happy. I often use these two on here as my measure, they live just down the road and they've ridden almost every route at pace; sometimes I try and get near the fella's speed on some and as a backstop I try and get past the lady (she has the majority of QOMs ) - www.sports-coaching.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=29 .

I generally enjoy segments as they push me on a bit, where sometimes I may lack the enthusiasm.
But there are times when they are frustrating and ruin the ride
e.g today I was 6 miles into a 10 mile segment I found last night. I had been hammering it as I wanted to beat a mate who was in 3rd on it. In the distance I see some temporary traffic lights..... And a line of cars.
Arggghhh...
Going through my mind was lots of dodgy overtaking/undertaking manoeuvres so I wouldn't end up stationary.
Luckily the lights turned green as I approached by and normal service was resumed.
I'm starting to have a love/hate relationship with strava, but the pros out way the cons.... Motivation wise :-D

Trotter, your post just reminded me of a Strava-induced bit of excitement today! Pulled off my fastest commute into work today, was aiming for sub-30mins and managed to go a minute and a half under. I thought I was going well, but just as I was approaching my stop point at the end of the ride where I stop Strava and upload, I heard a whooshing noise coming from my front wheel. I jammed on the anchors fearing the worst, and leant forwards to squeeze the tire - it was fine, so hurriedly checked the rear tire, fine too. Turned out to be a hardy leaf that had somehow got stuck near the QR on the front wheel and was brushing against the spokes, producing a sound for all the world like air escaping... Probably looked a right prat.

Fortunately if their names are different they usually have the same avatar, which helps a lot!

Just check out their rides and you'll work out if they're a cyclist or not - I've a few I can't tally from here and on there precisely but it doesn't bother me.

Don't forget the rich mahogany smell and also I should think a slight whiff of Sex Panther.

You're so wise. You're like a miniature Buddha, covered in hair.

LOL - true but I'm not that hairy, the beard / tash combo is now at stubble level and I'm thinking of going for a Rocky IV flat top ... they're very de rigueur!
