It's in the shop for it's first service since I bought it in May. We've done 830 miles together since then so it's about time it had a service

Decathlon wanted to keep mine overnight, I took a day off work and took it in on a quiet day rather than leave it there! *separationanxiety*

What they service on it?
I've had mine for some time now and clocked up average amount of miles. Apart from cleaning/oiling chain I've not done much else.

Adjusted the brakes, trued up the wheels (both very slightly out). Not a lot really but the first service is free so I saw no reason not to get it done just before the L->B

There are bike maintenance courses you can join. There was a local chap, part of an LBS or something. He was offering full day course which covers most of the basic works for something like Β£125 for the day regardless of number of students. I'm not the most handy of people but I do think it's better to try and do any work yourself rather than relying on LBS to much.

Good point, @cyraxdotnet. Mine was the Decathlon six month free one, so thought why not. I keep it in reasonable nick so they didn't have a great deal to do.

By all means, the free 6 month one is a must. I missed mine as it's a 2 hour drive round trip to get to a Decs. I need to keep pestering them to open another in London.
