To add to Aldi's 7 July event we have a Lidl one on the 11th of July. This includes the £30 bike maintenance stand that's made so many people happy.

Excellent, if I miss one of the Aldi stands I'll try for the Lidl one. Also like the look of that jacket.

I'd like a women's version of the jacket. Kind of interested in the backpack.

Well spotted Fluff, I like the look of the jacket and rucksack. Good to see the stand on offer too, I got one from Black Dog Cycles, quite similar to the Lidl one, and it's been invaluable. The kids can't even replace a dust cap these days without asking to borrow it!

Oh Blimey! Which stand should I go for? Aldi or Lidl?
The Lidl one has the handlebar brace. Not sure if the Aldi one has this?

Dos anyone know if these bike stands will grab the bike by it's seat post?
Both the illustrations show the clamp holding the top tube, and I'm guessing that won't be good for the carbon frames of my sons' bikes.
Anyone have one and tried the seatpost clamping technique?

On the bike stand page it says... 'Clamp fits all standard frame diameters from approx. 25-40mm' so it will, or at least should hold the seatpost.
The addition of the quick release, the handlebar holder, and not least the fact that it's only €30 instead of €35 in Aldi or £30ST makes it an easy choice for me, too. That said, I intend to get one from Aldi anyway, but not open it so that I can bring it back if I get one from Lidl, or keep it if I don't. I love me a contingency plan!

I've not tried an Aldi one but I've got one of the stronger looking non folding stands from Decathlon and it doesn't work well on the seatpost because the bike is so unbalanced. Clamping the top tube is ok if you're careful - you can easily squash an aluminium frame if you're not. I basically balance the bike on the bottom clamp and tighten the top just enough to stop it being knocked off, fine for my daughter's carbon bike. (just be careful of cables as well)
