Just had a week off work. Last Saturday me and Mrs RL jumped in the car and legged it to Cornwall for the week.
Weather wasn't fantastic apart from a couple of late afternoons and one full day. Saw a good few landmarks including St Micheals Mount (beautiful)
Came home and Mrs RL showed a great interest in the garden. (The gardens on St Micheals Mount are superb) Of course it wasn't just a case of buying a few plants and general pottering. Nope, not at our house. She decided that the overgrown bushes would be better off being removed to gain more garden space, to allow more sunlight into the garden.
That was my day yesterday, removed 5 HUGE bushes. All lopped down, cut up into manageable pieces then hauled off to the tip. Garden now looks huge, but Oh dear, my moobs aint half aching today!
How's your garden looking? Is it something you have an active interest in or something you dislike and find a chore to keeping it tidy?

It's lovely down that way, where did you stay?
I had a fun experience at St Michaels Mount. We had been around the house and it was time to get back. We got to the causeway and the tide was starting to cover it. We had a look at the boat, they wanted Β£6.They were even charging a pound each for my young ones that would sit on my lap. I thought "sod that, let's walk it"
I took my shoes and socks off and laced them round my neck. Picked up my 4 year old, on my front. Put my 2 hear old on my shoulders and set off, with the Mrs and older boy following behind.
The water was up to the shins. By halfway across it was over my knees and rising fast. I was starting to think I had made big mistake.
A bit of panic was setting in, especially as I was carrying 2 of my kids. The sea came up to the bottom of my trouser pockets at its deepest before I started to rise back out of it triumphantly.
The saved 6 quid went towards well earned ice creams :-D

Haha I remember those long journeys down to praa sands as a kid.... Used to take all day!
We used to park at Hendra and go to the quiet end of praa beach.
One day my auntie and uncle parked up, opened the car door. Their 2 poodles lept out and charged towards the sea.
They didn't realise we were 20ft up from the beach level. They ran at the sea, and then just vanished from sight. We all ran to the cliff edge and looked down and they were running around on the beach :-D

We were in the back of beyond buzz. Stopped in a cottage down a dark lane near to Falmouth Golf Club. Had to drive to get anywhere which meant beer was off limits. Saying that, we had enough to stock a small pub in the cottage!

Red, a week off work. Did you get to do any riding? Unfortunately not. Saw lots of cyclists down Cornwall (some very challenging hill climbs eh buzz!) Didn't see a single Triban either.

The summer holidays are coming ride to the hills!
I have a week off with my boys 10(13) & 11(16)coming up both really like cycling. Thinking of taking them camping and sticking the bikes on the car.Gonna need somewhere a bit flat as the youngster against my advice chose a BMX over a mountain bike ! Road bike not an option as little legs is a bit small as yet . Thinking either new forest or Norfolk .
Any suggestions?
Cheers

Certainly flat round Norfolk spoakes. May be well worth a look at. Some nice countryside round there too. Don't forget, we will need some good celery pics afterwards.

I've not had the chance but when I've been up and around Norwich, I've seen some great roads between Norwich and surrounding villages. Would see quite a few packs of roadies on nice smooth* tarmac.
*Austerity cuts may mean roads are not as described
