A bit off subject. Bought a Count 4 for Fathers day. Have the readings on the main piece (couldn't think what to call it) and set up as per the instructions so I know that it is working. The sensor has been fitted as well but I can't get a reading have even changed the battery to see if it is that. Any ideas? All help welcomed. Soda If you notice on the sensor on the forks, theres an arrow with a little groove on the top right corner of the piece. you've got to line that up with the magnet and have it nearly 5mm (nearly touching) which will trigger it off. it wont be the battery, but at least now you have a spare

I had the same issue setting up my count14+ (my first wireless bike computer). In the end, as arny suggested, it was the simple job of moving the magnet closer to the sensor.
My question: Why do they (all manufacturers) not use a stronger magnet? Does the magnet really need to be that close to the sensor?

Im guessing but wouldn't the magnet start to pick up some of the metallic debris on the floor, and start to then effect the magnet. because from what i think is correct, there is another magnet that helps press on a trip-sensor and the amount of times that gets triggered allows gives you the indicator of speed, time and distance. Because by working off how many times its being triggered to the time distance between each trip trigger point, it can calculate simply speed and with time. Im jsut guessing that anyways. I didnt do to well in science physics and can only remember the STD Triangle (speed, Time, Distance). <- (for all you 'misleading' thinkers) .

No you're spot on. I would most certainly think that is how it works. They've measured the distance traveled for the specific tyre size and count how many times the magnet triggers the relay inside the sensor hence working out the speed in a given time.
I'm not talking about some super magnet, just slightly stronger one. If you've got the count14+, you'll notice how much stronger the cadence magnet is. I'm sure there is a reason and either way, as long as you get it close enough, sensors are normally fine.

The cadence magnet needs to be stronger as it's speed is slower past the pickup (coil) the speed sensor should work better with the magnet nearer the rim as the higher speed will induce a stronger signal, and if it's wireless the pickup will be closer to the head unit. Basic wireless computers are very susceptable to interference, a friend of mine had to wrap his new front light in foil as it stopped his computer working

Just bought one also, try and hold the sensor and pass the magnet past it and you will hear a faint tick, try to use the sound to try and position the sender best on the wheel/front fork.
Hope this helps

Any help would be appreciated. Regards Dave.
