On my second year of Triban 520 ownership, and it's covered just over 7,000 miles.
My old bike needs more spent on it than is sensible, so debating whether to make the 520 my winter/touring bike and get the Ultra 900 AF next year as a summer bike, or to retain the Triban as the summer bike, and get something else (e.g. new model 500) as a winter bike.
I'm swaying in the direction of the former option, but don't like spending money, so my head says do the latter.

I like yourself don't like spending money. on the other side of the coin, I do like buying things. a subtle difference I know, get what you want. two words you don't want to say on your death bed are: what if ! what you want to say is : when I

Confession time - My (or rather my son's) RR is a RR520 not a 540 - I was sure it was a 540! Must be age playing tricks on me again.

Yep, still 500SE - just bought a new chain and cassette to change myself actually. Front rings as well - dropped from 50 teeth to 46 (I spend less than 2% of the commute in top gear) to see if there's much difference. The chain was stretched and a few teeth were chipped.

Still got the classic RED UPPERCASE T3 which I use as the winter bike. In fact I did a 50 mile Sportive on it last weekend as the weather was a bit grotty. I have just bought an Ultegra upgrade for my carbon Cinelli and will be putting the 105 groupset on the T3 and finally get rid of the triple crankset which has never worked perfectly. This means that only the frame and forks remain of the original bike Finished the upgrade today. The T3 now has Shim 105 5700 10x2 with FSA Gossamer crankset. The latter is actually 35 gm lighter than the Shimano equivalent. The bike now weighs under 9 kilos and is less than a kilo heavier than the Cinelli which has 400 gm lighter wheels. With new cables and bar tape it looks as good or better than it did in January 2013.
