*BRILLIANT* thread, thank for advice, cheap glasses bought, inserts to follow - I just need something that wasn't the £400 quoted by my optician for bike specs, thanks to all for contributions...

Update So the prescription inserts came back. Tried em in the glasses and it seemed strange. Wasnt sure if they got the prescription slightly off or whether the curve of the glasses made things seem a little different than my normal glasses, was a little concerned.
But....then today i tried them on a ride.
Awesome!! I can see. All round good vision, crisp and sharp, no peering over the top, stayed on really well.
Just awesome.
For a total of £30 i have sports glasses with 5 different outer lenses and inner prescription lenses.
Todays ride in them was fantastic.
I truly recommend this to any glasses wearing cyclist.
Reglazemyglasses.com and sports glasses from amazon.

Like many others, I've always wanted cycling glasses, but prescription took the price beyond justification. So I appreciate all the comments and feedback on products/sites in this thread, when I get the time I'll sort myself a pair of these.

Just popping back in to say - once again, a massive thank you - today was a dull morning ride and then a pitch black night ride home with the yellow lenses proved brilliant (the French are onto something with yelow headlights - loads less glare for me) Yes, the insert looks a *little* silly but in the summer you won't be able to see it behind the darker lens, and for £28 I have prescription sunnies, and they are terrific, each step takes a few weeks to sort but once its done, its a belter. One tip from me, at the price I bought two pairs from Amazon so if one breaks, I can just pop it into the other one. And to think I asked in Bluewater to be told £300 sir for a price of fully glazed pair. Pstt.
I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS THREAD - thanks all....

So i got my prescription yesterday but i was checking thru web and it even says on the order form that PD/Pupillary Distance avg is for males 63 mm and female 61 , on my prescription it has R-24 and L-24 , now correct me if im wrong but that is from center of nose bridge to the pupil either side then you add both up? so im way off the avg ? i done a rough measurement of say 60 mm from pupil to pupil, going by what my optician gave me my PD is R-24 L-24 = 48 , could this be right ? need to check before i order as the PD is important. What is your PD ?

What is your PD ? I may be wrong but i think the l and r numbers arent to do with pd they are the amount each eye is defective by and thus what they need to do with the lense. I was informed that most prescriptions dont have pd on them. My specsavers one didnt. When i got my specsavers glasses the optition didnt even do the pd, it was done by an assistant with a plastic ruler afterwards. As far as I know, the methods of getting your pd are: 1: your mate measures it (very dodgy) 2: your optician does it outside of prescription if you ask 3: you use a webcam and an online app/tool 4: send old glasses to your glazers and they can use them to calculate pd Hope that helps

It seems to be an elusive thing, why it isnt part of a prescription i have no idea. Sending off specs i think is best. Hope you are happy with the result. Initially i felt a bit disappointed as the curve of the lenses made my sight seem off compared to my normal glasses, but once on the bike it wasnt noticable at all and was totally awesome. Really hope you are happy with them
Ps my £10 glasses on amazon are now up to £25.... have i started something?? I think still cheap on aliexpress website though.

Think they like to hold some info back from you, you need PD to order glasses online from what i read, apparently they are not obliged to give it to you for free and can charge for it i think, not sure most will do that tho.

I noticed that the price had shot up! Just as I was about to almost order the other day, which made me look at these instead: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007S67D4K/ref=gno_cart_title_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3B7JPVQGD2HV2 they seem very similar. Being a woman though I'm a bit concerned they may be a little too big/wide for my face. So I'm still holding off. Maybe a daft question, but when you send them off to get reglazed do you just send off the little glasses myopia insert frame rather than the whole lot?

Yes @l84n all you need to send is the insert. I'm sure those glasses would fit male or female.
