Told myself that when struggling up some hills today. It worked

I don't think my legs have ever given up on me with judicious selection of gears. The rest of me packs up first! I like the sentiment though as it's all too easy to scare yourself off a big climb before even getting to the bottom.

Im just worried my legs say stop my head says keep going and my heart goes bang! Have a personal rule of never getting off on a hill, use the gears and get up the hill, rest of the way down Had a cold over Christmas and just getting back out, worried about the heart rate measurements on the first few rides, 250bpm seems wrong on so many levels Hopefully its a dodgy reading from the tech connect.garmin.com/activity/428769988Might take a few more days out before i go at it again.

wellermj, tried to have a look at your HR data but don't have permission to view your garmin activity Probably a blip if it wasn't like that the whole ride, had mine showing 100 bpm and slowly going down when I set off from some traffic lights only to rocket up to 170 in about 5 seconds further up the road - must've had bad contact with my chest.

Almost certainly bad data. Most people have max hr of high 190s or just over 200.

That's quite all over the place. But it goes from around 180 to 240 for a bit then straight back down to 180 so I'd definitely say a tech issue there. Heart rate won't go up and down that quickly.
How long have you been using the heart rate strap? They are known to give dodgy readings after only a bit of use, a polar strap with the garmin module connected tends to fair much better if it's an old strap in need of replacement. Seemed to throw up high reading a few times.
