Really enjoyed today's Tour of Britain with the riders quite stretched out due to the uphill finish.
Fantastic celery.

This must be the tweet of the day from Mark Cavendish after today's TOB stage.
Mark Cavendish β@markcavendish 3h Overheard a spectator say to her companion on one of the climbs today: "They're going a pretty pathetic pace, aren't they?!" Had to laugh.

I don't watch as much cycling as I would like to due to other commitments, but it was good to see some of the climbs today seeming to be very real challenges for some of the pro riders - not for Martin though! (Dan, not martin122 I mean!). I wouldn't stand a chance of completing without stopping even one of these climbs I suspect, but it was a good reminder that they are human. TV doesn't convey the speed these guys reach, even on the climbs, but you could see the effort and discomfort at times. Really enjoyable stage, agree with @davefy7 about the celery. Shame about the non-stop torrential rain, but it is England in September.

I think the weather conditions really added to the occasion today, PV. Loved every minute of today's coverage. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Off to watch tomorrows TT at Knowsley, it's only about 12 miles to ride over there so took the day off work. Very lucky you!

Looking forward to the Lake District section and Honister Pass. Notice how hard they had to work to get over the pass. Was that the one the commentators said is 25%?

@davefy7 Maybe there has been an incident as they were all using stock brake pads? ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) From Decathlon by any chance? ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) It's likely the bike mechanics didn't realise as there was just too much water from the rains to identify the brand ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png)

And who is the chap in the white sky jersey? What's up with there been no race radios? It's not a Team Sky jersey, it's a Great Britain jersey. The lack of team radios is because the races at the level below the World Tour aren't allowed to use them, cost saving I presume. Wow I didn't know that thanks.

So get on with the program boys!!! I do love a great bike race! Wiggins wasn't shining too well today though. Curious why Mark decided to go alone at close to the end then faded away shortly after. Did he come in last? That shot of him coming in made it look that way.

Really wished he could have done something smashing today. Sad it seems as if both him and Wiggins are past their prime.
