yup been doing that in the past too tights under bibs though, that way they dont slp down but the downside is greater chafing risk much like with wearing underwear

That's why I said bib tights, bib tights don't slip down all depends on whether you wan't bib or non-bib though

because youll get cold chuckies You can use your existing bibs still, just buy unpadded bib longs and wear them over padded bib shorts. Due to the lack of a pad you can get away with not having to wash them every day and then having 2 layers higher up provides more insulation. This is my plan. I wore padded trousers last year, but my friends in the know always wear tights over their shorts. More insulation, less washing of tights and if you have some shorts that don't look good, no one can see them!

I popped into a LBS the other day that has a great sale rail. Picked up a pair of Orbea roubaix lined bib tights for £40. Not that it really helps you, lol. PS Roubaix is a thin fleece like fabric. Yes, Roubaix is a fleece material, you can get jackets and jerseys in it as well.

You can get the £39:99 bib tights from decathalon for £23:99 at the moment as they are incorrectly priced on the web site. They will price match in store. Got myself a pair last night.

Ive just ordered my first bit of cycling clothing and went with the advice here of some bib tights from wiggle.
Where does the bib sit? Do you have that as your base layer of do yo have a real base layer and then have the bib ontop of that?

For me it is base layer if required then bib then jersey. I am not a professional though, it just works for me.

Here's the link if anyone wants it. I got a pair at that price during the height of the summer that I saw on the bargain rail and have been wearing them this week and found them nice and warm. Was in Decca today and it looks like they have gone with the winter range in store and not updated the web price.

Mine came out of hibernation on Saturday morning, spotted a few brave people out there still in their shorts.

Has anyone had any experience of arm & leg warmers? It's my first autumn/winter of riding (spent last winter on the turbo) & I'm a naturally warm person - I can happily get away with shorts/t-shirt even down to minus temperature conditions (they make us tougher in the North East ) so I'm worried I'll get far too hot in tights and not be able to remove them like I could the warmers.

I've got a pair of running tights, (you can get them cheaper than cycling specific clothes, and from virtually any decent sports outlet) they have ties waist, a back pocket, vented behind knees and zip+gripper bottoms.
I just slip those on over my standard shorts when it's a bit chilly.
