So earlier today all the power suddenly went out, first thing I did was to go and check the circuit breaker and lo and behold and had tripped. Managed to get it back on (ground fault circuit breaker kept tripping, hit the test button then turned it on and it stayed on - god knows what was happening). Girlfriend was relieved as she would have had no idea to do that, and probably would have waited a few hours assuming it was just a power cut before doing anything.
Sometimes you realise just how much the other half depends on you lol

A bit gross this one. Several years ago when our youngest was around 6 yrs old, he'd just paid a visit to the loo for a sit down performance. Thing was he'd put loads and loads of paper down afterwards. He flushed as normal then in a panic shouted his mum who was upstairs already. Unable to cope she shouted for me in a state of mild panic. I rushed upstairs wondering what on earth had happened, just in time to see the toilet water level coming perilously close to spillage! You guessed it, he'd blocked the bog! There was nothing else for it but to plunge my hand straight down the pot amongst lots of paper and other, ahem, items! The wife reeled back in horror and disgust. But overflow was averted by my quick thinking. After some serious hand washing and normality was resumed, Mrs Red admitted she would not have been able to do that.

Welcome to real life, throw in a few kids and it's an everyday event - but it's two way also ... do we need to get into this sort of stuff on here? I would lump it in the same camp as cycle camera debates? I'm not totally against this sort of thread, there's plenty on CycleChat (which I hasten to add is a great forum); however, I kind of can't be arsed with discussing personal lives on a forum where we come to see how our fellow escapee bike loons are doing and get inspiration (that applies to both sexes). What do the hive / collective think - happy to open it up if my view is not the majority (but would of course have to consult Rocinante ( Big Brother) and zoltansocrates also)?

Put your slippers on Rads. It's in the chill out room! It's not all one way as you say Rads. I depend on Mrs Red for allsorts of things. It's not the washing and ironing fairy that washes my clothes, irons them then puts them neatly away. We don't employ a chef so normally it's my other half that makes the tea which is normally ready for me when I arrive home from work. Love her to bits, couldn't manage without her.

.... there's plenty on CycleChat (which I hasten to add is a great forum); Eh, no it's not. It introduced me to this forum and I'm grateful for that, but it's chock-full of folk who's sole purpose in life seems to be to gurn about cars and drivers.

so you are on the drops, well i never
im totally open to various different subjects, if there is a bike link so much the better but it serves well to take discussion beyond bikes and get to know some of the people you will, potentially, be riding with in the future
happy to post a pic of my scabby eye but not so much going to tell you about the intricacies of the family, if some one wants to get explicit with their info more fool them but i dont object per se
fwiw i think cycle chat is rammed full of liberal guardianites, at it may be here too idk, but its rammed down your throat over there
the fact is though, the mrs depends on me - of course she does, but then it has its rewards and before you start off on all that filth Mr Brien i meant shes got the tea on before im home

We all share a common theme but there are quite a few "weird" people out there in cyberspace. Certain subjects can be aired on a forum but some things, such as family and personal subjects should remain "under wraps"

fair enough, feel free to close this thread if you want. Was more just having a laugh about how she would have been without power for several hours for no reason.
