That's very interesting. A mechanic at Surrey Quays scratched my new T3 when I took it back in to have the gears adjusted last week. Also scuff marks on the seat post I guess caused by clamps that now show the exposed metal beneath. I didn't notice it until I got home and wasn't going to do anything about it but after what you've said here about possible problems I'm having second thoughts. What do you think? I've been very unimpressed with 2 of the mechanics at Surrey Quays, not just with their work but their attitude too.
they scratched my claud when i took it up for a service, do it myself from now on, complained and got a shrug for my troubles
I wasn't too bothered about the scratch until you mentioned the potential lacquer issues. How likely is it to occur? I haven't experienced it before and my hybrid has plenty of scratches. If you use touch up paint wouldn't that create a seal around the lacquer and reduce the chances of any problems?
Also, my LBS suggested to a friend they use nail varnish for chips and scratches. Could clear nail varnish be used on top of red touch up paint, or how about just red nail varnish? What did you do with the scratch on your claud?
