I have heard that some people find it hard to get mudguards for their T3. I got these SKS full mudguards for mine for use during the winter. I opted for the black guards and after a bit of faffing about (the supplied instructions are rubbish!) I got them to fit perfectly. The guards are full length which means there is minimal splashing over yourself and your bike. This has to be a bonus when it comes to bike cleaning. Many people will think that full length guards are a bit Mary Poppins and old fashioned. Believe me, they are very close fitting, sleek and slim and blend in with the tyres perfectly. I ordered mine online from Wiggle but obviously your local bike shop should be able to get them too. Full details of the mudguards can be found on the link below. www.wiggle.co.uk/sks-chromoplastic-road-mudguard-set/

I couldn't get the Chromoplastics to fit. The front was rubbing between the top of the tyre and the brake. There just doesn't seem to be enough clearance. Tried everything. I have had to take it off. The back one is better but still rubs a bit.
When I tightened up the brake bolt with the mudguards fitted the calipers wouldn't expand/release properly for normal braking.
Looking for suggestions for some that fit well.
Cheers, Andy

As previously mentioned, I had to faff about with mine for some time to get them to fit correctly (Chromoplastics) Believe me, the air was a bit blue at times whilst I was fitting them. I found I had to chop down a bit from the stays to make the guards fit. With the front guard I fitted the mounting point between the caliper and the spacer. Anywhere else and the guard seemed to foul on some part. TBH, I have no problems so far with fouling or tyre rub.

I got my SKS Commuter gaurds to fit using Sheldon Brown problem solvers. The front needed one because of the recessed fork crown bolt, the rear didnt, I ve since learnt that if you change the original caliper bolts to a 23mm one, which can be obtained from Merlin or Ribble for less than Β£2.00 then you can set the front gaurd back so it clears. My bikes pictured on the your bikes thread as Magics Triban with gaurds fitted.

I gave up trying to fit the full SKS guards. Just couldn't see how there is enough clearance on the rear. From what I read the rear is the easy one to fit! Glad I didn't attempt the front.
Bought the SKS Raceblades instead. They actually suit my needs much better. On and off in five minutes. Less coverage, but I ride alone so not bothered about anyone behind me! Plus the bike is stored safe and dry indoors so it has to be thoroughly cleaned after every ride.

I've got a ton of rub on the front Crud. Haven't attempted to fit the rear one yet. Going to ride to work with just the front and see how it goes.

Had to do a bit of bending and manipulating to get my SKS Crudcatchers to fit. Bit fiddly but once on, they are fine.

first time round I put crud 2's on my T3, then found that every time I pulled the front brake, the guard twisted a caught on the Tyre, so I cut the guard off just at the front fork, bent about 1/2 inch at 90 degrees, drilled a hole in it and put a bolt through it into the front caliper tube-nut, then put 2 bungee straps round the fork crown for extra support. This was o.l. till I attempted to put 25mm tyres on. The front kept catching (again), so it had to come off. To put a 25mm on the back meant letting the air out first, because as my local bike mechanic told me, the chain stays are too short, and really only meant for 23mm tyres. So it looks like I am going to try Raceblades, hoping that the 18-23mm ones will work on my 25mm vittorio's

Currently have Cruds on my red T3, running with Mich Lithion 2s - which are allegedly 23s but closer to 25 in real terms. The rear guard went on with no problems at all, just had to trim the bottom bracket end a bit to get it to line up properly.
The front however, wouldn't go anywhere close to fitting - after a lot of shoving & wiggling it about I sussed that it's because the T3's stock caliper sits about 3mm lower than the underside of the fork crown, and this coincides with a thick bit of plastic on the guard, where the tip's designed to attach.
I was able to file the plastic lump on the top/left of the guard where it passes under the brake, and eventually got enough clearance to fit. The guard's now installed & nothing's rubbing, but I still can't use the separate tip without it contacting the tyre.
Since the brakes are about the only bit of my bike I've not yet replaced, I'm now wondering if 105s or Tiagras would give me a bit more clearance. Guess I'll have to buy some to find out!
Jon.
