yeah I know, I couldn't help it I have lost 2 stone this year, so thats the equivalent to owning a bike that weighs -2kg, thats like riding a bike made out of helium ffs you do realise that giant or specialized will now market that, helium frames, new for 2020! lol

I'm torn between those and the RS30's I like the mavics on my MTB and like that theyre a bit more understated than the RS's.
The few grams heavier they are is nothing compared to 16 stone of buzz on the bike!

I would say definately pedals - go clipless you won't regret it - once you've picked yourself up off ground a few times!
A lot say tyres and wheels - but once I regreased and correctly tightened my hubs I've had no issues with tyres or wheels (or maybe I just don't know any different as not tried!!!!)
Brakes not great, can upgrade pads for about a tenner!

For under Β£100 i would say replace the tyres, brake blocks, pedals and cassette. the only thing is if you change the pedals and go clipless then you need shoes and cleats... the cleats are an ongoing expense they dont last long!

I am thinking of going clipless however I've been using the T3 for my short (but now fast) commute to work in work shoes and quite like the standard toe clips. I don't want normal spds as then I won't be able to ride it using normal shoes so was thinking of either going for the platform surrounding cage type double sided or the single sided (SPD one side, normal pedal the other) Has anyone got any experience of these.

I use crank bros candys (mtb spd type) with shimano spd shoes, can walk in them fine. On my MTB I have CB Mallets and these have a large platform so can be ridden with normal shoes too.

Most definitely doing the brakes ASAP. Out in a downpour tonight and coming down a road in the high twenties to a T junction with hedge cover either side of me. Had the head down out of the rain and looked up not too far from the junction. Grabbed a good handful of both brakes and not a lot happened. After a proper fistful I scrubbed off some speed and grounded a foot and pulled up just short of the junction. Near miss.
Pads have about 1000 miles on them and look in good shape with little distance between them and the rim. Think I'll be upgrading. Clarks Gold look the part.

I've noticed a massive improvement in braking since getting the T5. The pads are a much darker compound than the ones the T3 had. I realise the calipers and levers are sora, don't know if that makes much odds. I put the shimano ultegra pads on my T3 and to be fair it didn't make a great deal of difference.

I've changed the pedals (double sided),tyres, wheels and hubs. Haven't spent a fortune either. Have lost 5kgs of fat which seems far preferable to buying lighter bits for the bike. And as I often have trips to make at night I got some truly awesome lights off eBay: again I didn't have to spend much but when riding on country roads in winter without street lighting it was money well spent.
