Looking at the Hoy Bikes homepage come across this little quote
'Looking at the market I couldn’t really see anyone that was providing a great range of well designed, affordable, quality products that had a community of enthusiasts behind it. Buying a HOY bike is like joining a club, a cool cycling club at that.'
Couldnt have been looking that far IMO

I checked out the Hoy bikes, like his intent but he could have just joined the TOC - or have worked with Decathlon. Already been done Sir Chris !

The welds are really neat and some of the kit is fine, but they are generic Taiwanese frames, nothing special The seven is lighter than the sa colabra :-) For a cycling gura to have looked around and not noticed us......mmm more like 'wed like to replicate what they are doing' if you ask me

Yep and the ego factor of wanting his own range, even if it is the low end 'for the people' type thingy - Boardman has of course already dialled much of the endorsement market . Not really knocking him though, better that than endorsing / selling cars.

Just had a link from YouTube with Sir Chris talking about his involvement in the development of the bike; very similar issues to those that people have tackled on the T3. I am quite into what he's up to and on reflecting a tad think he's genuinely trying to do something good. Will have to keep an eye on them for next spring when it's time for n+1. I'll still be a Triban owner of course. The other pressure is the high end Boardman my ex triathlon racing buddy has just relegated to his loft as no-one would pay the right money for it, he's said it's waiting for me at mate's rate though . I took the family and the gas bbq to Bristol Bikefest yesterday to feed my buddy (and his 2 man team partner) as they did hour on and off stints in a 12 hr mtb relay and he's said he wants me fit enough to be in the team next year, so the pressure's on for n+2 as well .

Whether to invest in the past or future and to what proportions lol . If he could source UK frames of quality and value I would really be impressed and try to support but that's likely a bridge too far?

My wife quite liked the look of the Victoria Pendleton range that came out last year at Halfords. However she went off them when I mentioned that I'd heard you could have a lot of fun on top of a Pendleton.

This is one of the reasons why they haven't released a carbon frame at this time, it would have meant going with an off-the-peg frame and they wanted to invest more time and effort into it

Looked at the Evans site yesterday, they're not cheap are they! its the brit factor again, too cheap and people sneer, too expensive and no one buys i think they could have made them a bit more aesthetically pleasing, nothing wrong with them but dare i suggest a touch of colour
