Our bikes are our mistresses. We buy them gifts and hide it from the wife so it makes them more fun to ride when wife is not around!

My wife only complains when I buy cheap stuff that is rubbish (like the three pumps - Lidl, Aldi & Home Bargains). She is always telling me to buy things that will last (I am waiting for my Torm Jersey now). I do agree with the safety angle though, anything related to safety she has no problems with at all. It really can be a false economy sometimes. I needed a light folding waterproof for a sportive the next day because the waterproofs i have are a bit heavy and i would have had to wear them for the entire ride, and i didn't fancy paying £40-60 in Evans, so the day before I picked up one that was reduced to £10 but it was a little tight, so i got another, which i didn't really like - another £10. I took this one to the sportive, and didn't use it. Following Week, Aldi special offers day, I picked up another one, tried it in the shop, fitted fine. Now up to £30 First time i used it on the bike i discovered the arms were too short!!! I now have another that i picked up for £20 (reduced from £40), this one, Im happy with, though i wish it would wrap up a little smaller £50 gone! I may as well bought one from Evans! The Annoying thing is my Missus encouraged me to buy the first 2, even though i kept saying I don't want to end up spending a fortune! Your wife and mine should get together, they sound like peas in a pod. This is exactly what she would say, "buy what you need and get some good use from it", I am always looking for a bargain! My Torm Jersey came today (I will do a full review on it) and it is astonishing, the best jersey of any sort I have ever bought. Cost me £50 and my wife tells me I should of bought one in the first place rather than messing around with cheap stuff that doesn't fit. Its got 5 pockets in the pack, perfect for the arm warmers (which I also bought), my wife & my phone (on todays ride), money, food, cards and anything else you can think of.

I just hope she doesn't put 2 and 2 together when she discovers her dress is on eBay for the exact price of the helmet.

I admit I had a bit of spending fest recently, having been laid up for 6 months with no exercise. Easy to time deliveries when SHMBO (She who must be obeyed ) was at work. Back to work now so things have changed. The new T3's on the turbo ready for getting back to it and she hasn't noticed the change in colour as yet ! Fingers crossed.
