Hi folks, new to road cycling and purchased a Triban 3 first as a trainer, then stuck some decent tyres on it and took it out on the road, looking to upgrade through the cycle to work scheme and was thinking about the 3 bikes I've mentioned in the title thread. From my limited knowledge the 900AF looks to be a bargain but what's with the brakes underneath at the rear? Also the 560 CF is not that light for carbon and the specs don't seem that great compared to the 900AF or am I missing something. And what would be the biggest difference between the 900AF and the 540. btw looking more for a sportif fit rather than race as still go a few kg to shift!

And all these worries about muck are only relevent if you ride through foot deep muck... in wheel run it's further than the traditional seat stay mounting. 560CF screams to me trying to compete with the PX pro carbon (which is a horrible bike) - too many people are sold by the word carbon, rather than the abilities/properties of the frame. The 540 is a more "flexible" bike, with better clearance and more upright geometry. The 900AF is more racy. Personally of the 2 I'd definitely take the 900AF.

would love to see the specs of the 900 af gf though! May hold on to see what that brings Aksium disc wheels (12mm through axles), Sora double groupset Shimano mechanical disc brakes. 920 will have Ksyriums and Rival with hydraulics I wouldn't write off the 560 too quickly, it isn't a 'cheap' carbon frame hence the lower spec components, the new Tiagra works very well, the frame is lighter than the af and it's the wheels which make up the weight but they should be stronger. Home maintainance is easier with external cables and threaded bottom bracket. I'm not saying it's better than the af, just different and the 540 is Β£150 cheaper than either with great spec and more versatility... I should get the chance to have a proper ride on all 3 next week for product training so will report back afterwards

At the moment June for the 900 and September for the 920 but expected dates can vary widely.

Just a quick question is the 560Cf full tiagra as in the brakes shifters &cassette? Also what is the weight of the 700 wheels. If I did buy I'd be looking to change the cassette to maybe 11-32 (it's hilly in wales!) and lighter wheels. Got the 10 speed tiagra on my boardman hybrid and it's very good, plus I'm relatively new to the sport so full or partial 105 may be wasted on me.

Yes full Tiagra even the cassette. I rode one yesterday and was really impressed with the frame stiffness.

Thanks chas, if I do get it later in the year I'll maybe save up for some lighter wheels.

There's nothing wrong with the wheels, as I said they seem stiff and strong and the whole package would suit a heavier /stronger rider, lighter isn't always best.

Really undecided between the 900AF and the 560cf, one has full 105 the other full tiagra 100g between them, not really sure any weight savings to be made on either looking at it and as you say weight isn't everything.Aiming to be around 80kg when I buy it. Maybe just best to go in store and look next time I'm in Reading. Got a couple of months anyhow till my company does the c2w scheme.

Did you decide anything?
I am also tempted by both but also the ribble cgr which takes wider tyres and has disk brakes.
I currently commute 26 miles a day on a steel fixed gear (2005 fuji track) so the racey AF geometry is probably OK for me but I want gears for planned longer rides and liek the idea of wider tyres and disk brakes. Sadly the decathlon GF doesn't have much tyre clearance so maybe even a alu triban might suite me?
