You must buy her a women's specific bike. If she was to try to ride a men's bike then there is a built in security mechanism that would recognise a woman rider and prevent the pedals from turning Seriously, if the bike fits her just buy it.

As above, the Women's 540 has a different saddle and shorter stem which are items people often change to suit themselves male or female. The idea of women specific geometry is based on them having longer legs and shorter bodies which isn't always the case. You MUST however get her some of these www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLxg0dbvokQ

Cheers for the info on the saddle and stem. I noticed that the main differences that were listed on the womens bike was stem, handlebar and saddle.

For the record, I have a Rockrider 8.1, the predecessor to the 560 and it's a fantastic bike
