Hi guys, I've been toying with a potential upgrade for a couple of weeks now.
Does anyone else here pay for premium or have previously paid for premium?
If so, just wondered what your thoughts are in it? For and against.
i already spend too much time either on strava or thinking about strava whilst I'm riding. Is it just another excuse never to look up from my iPad? Haha.

I like the Suffer score and filtered leaderboards but other than that its not really essential. If I lived in a big city with a lot of mates the Find Friends and Live Segments features would be handy but that's not the case for me.

I used to have it because I got fed up with competing with people decades younger than me and it was quite nice see my name nearer the top of my age group. I eventually decided that this vanity wasn't worth the expense and cancelled the subscription.

Thanks for the thought guys. I thought I'd like the suffer score side of things but wondered if you'd need a HRM or power meter to make best use of it.
Maybe one of the free trials is worth a go of first to see how I get on. Sounds like the novelty can wear off quite quickly.

I found the fitness and freshness analysis really interesting, especially with a couple of sportives in my schedule in the Spring/summer. It logged the data from before my trial subscription so I've been able to track the numbers from last Autumn when I started a training programme. That also needs at least a HRM trace to log the contribution of a ride. The free trial is the way to go.

Strava's free membership is probably too good for a free app (hence why they've been running at a loss since starting) and I couldn't see the justification against the current benefits for upgrading. However that was until last week when I saw the news about the Strava Live Segments which will be available on the new 520 and 510 later this year. Regretfully I am far too competitive for my own good so I can now see myself going premium later in the year just for that lol As said above, the 60 days free from BC is a good way to judge whether it warrants or is worthwhile paying for the year.
