I believe Kryptonite D-locks come with a guarantee of a replacement bike / monetary value of your bike if the lock is broken and bike is stolen. - With proof of the broken lock obviously.
If you're not interested in that, you can't go wrong with any Abus with a silver or gold rating.

Thanks for that Arranj, Do you have any links to specific locks or chains?
Where would I look out for them online or in store?

I got the gold standard Oxford one from Decathlon. I'd not want to carry it with me, but for locking at work, I'm happy.

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good cycle lock for my Alur 700? Thanks J A couple of questions which will help others with their suggestions. Is this lock to be portable and carried on you at all times or left at one location, like place of work or station etc? What is your budget?

Hi Bob,
Id like something to which I can carry around with me. Something which allows me to lock it up outside work. I work in the city Liverpool Street, So im guessing a D/U Lock with a chain or something alike.
My budget is no more than Β£100

Does it have to confirm to X standard? (for your insurance)

Most insurance companies will demand a lock passes some standard, usually sold secure bronze, silver or gold.
The one I recommended above is actually a motorbike lock and passes sold secure gold... and the one I have, but it's over 1kg and I rarely carry it around, it lives locked to my work bike rails. I also have a chain (not insurance counting, but they don't demand it) to lock the wheels, given mine are nicer than stock.
Getting light sold secure locks is essentially impossible.

Thank you Robert.
Is your lock still available? and if so where would I go to get one ?
The sold secure locks are the second best thing to an actual bike lock im presuming.

If you're not interested in that, you can't go wrong with any Abus with a silver or gold rating. I did some research on bike locks a few months ago, Kryptonite has some issues. You don't need to break the lock, you just need ball point pen! youtu.be/PCxHD9_uEf8
