Thinking of purchasing a relatively 'cheap' Mountain bike - as my wife has one and the road bike is, well, for the road!!
Don't need anything hardcore, as it will not be used a great deal.
Are the B'Twin mountain bikes any good/ok, even the base model?
Help/recommendations please.
Thanks.

I've got a the B'Twin Rockrider 5.0 - pretty sure it was the cheapest there when I got it a couple years ago, somewhere around £120. It's heavy, I don't really trust the brakes and I wouldn't take it on proper trail rides, but it does the job just fine for basic offroad riding.

I have the rock rider 6.0. Im looking to buy another LIGHTER one. As my sone appears to have grown into my rr and has started riding it to school.
Good luck I told him
Have to ride up a 14-17 % hill every day will make his legs like steel!
I was in Decca on Sunday riding the mountain bikes about not a twist shift in sight anymore "thank god" I just got some new gear cables and shifters /brake levers for my rr.
Have a ride about on them I like them but I've not had the oppotunity to try others apart from my mates £4k sponsored bike which was awesome.

I own the Rockrider 9.2 and I don't have a bad word to say about it! I rode a few of the other bikes such as the 700s and the 9.1 and they were both brilliant too. Havent ridden any of the hard tail ones but if the full sus are anything to go by im sure they're great.

Depends what you mean by cheap, If it really is bottom of the range you want, the Kemmel is basically the 5.0 (now 300) with a single front ring for £90. If you're prepared to go to £240 you get the 500 which is good value and much more robust with disc brakes, cassette rear wheel, double walled rims and thumb shift rather than gripshift gears. You never know, you might like it . (the 520 at £340 is even better with hydraulic discs and forks with lockout)

I've got a 560 which wasn't cheap as such, but cheap for the spec (£550). Very happy with it..
