Hiya. I've been offered an ultegra crank for my non bwin bike. My bikes a 10 speed and the crank is a compact 50/34 172.5mm. The ultegra is also compact 50/34 172.5mm but its an 11 speed. So my question is would this be a straight swap or can you not mix 10 and 11 speed cranks?

I'm pretty sure cranks are independent of the number of speeds in the whole groupset so you can swap cranks out as you like as long as the bottom bracket is compatible. If the BB needs changing they are not that expensive.

Thanks Chris, that's the reply I hoped for. I was just reading that the 11 speed needs a thinner chain?

Been reading a few web pages and it seems it won't be a problem :-)

Thanks Chris, that's the reply I hoped for. I was just reading that the 11 speed needs a thinner chain? It does, but that's because of spacing of rear sprockets.

My mates just said he doesn't have the bottom bracket for it.
Do you know which bracket I'd need. The crank is ultegra fc 6800 .
My current bracket is a PressFit SM-BB71-41
Cheers

The only difference MAY be that the chainrings are fractionally closer together, probably not though. There was a difference between 8/9 and 10, but it' doesn't cause much of an issue unless you drastically cross chain from the small 34 ring.
Go for it, whack it on there...
