I've always used gloves similar the below on my Mountain Bike which help me hold off nerve injuries to my lower thumb. www.chainreactioncycles.com/endura-dexter-windproof-gloves/rp-prod32183I used the same gloves today on my virgin 500SE ride but could feel a slight discomfort on my left hand from where you little finger knuckle runs down to the bottom of your hand. In short, what gloves do you guys wear for road biking? Any recommendations that include some possible gel support? I could possibly need to change hand positions or it could be from a previous hand injury where I dislocated and fractured two fingers on that hand. Thanks for any input.

I use a mix of gloves depending on the weather. Some have gel inserts but some don't and from my own experience I find I tend to get by without discomfort on everything but the longest rides, when fatigue is setting in everywhere anyway. I do try to change position around the bars/hoods fairly frequently. It may be that some of the issues are experiencing are related to getting used to the change in ride position from the MTB to the T500SE. It might be worth seeing if some of these issues persist after you get some more road miles under your belt and then taking that experience as info to a local bike shop to see what they advise.

Thanks Chris, that sounds like some good advice (frequent changing of hand positions) and I will bare it in mind.

I've got the gloves which you have linked to and I find them fine for road riding. Sometimes worn with some thin liners when it's really cold. I've also got a pair of these Castelli Diluvio gloves which are waterproof but I find my hands sweat too much in them so usually stick to the Endura windprof gloves. For summer riding I wear mits like these Endura FS260. In late spring or early autumn when it's not quite mit weather I wear a thin pair of full finger gloves with similar padding to the mits. Never really had any discomfort of numbness in my hands, but do change position quite often if starting to feel tiredness creeping in.
