I don't have one yet as they go for more than my limit. Quite a few reviews out there which might tell you what you need to know.

Good spot Dave. If anyone's not already into ANT+ for sensors that's a good deal if the head unit performs well.

I've been holding out for the Pro version with the barometric altimeter. Imagine the stats I can get on screen for my hills.....

I've got Strava premium, a heart rate monitor, cadence etc and I do alright on a road bike for my age but to be honest I'd rather just get my touring bike bought and clear off on it with my camping gear. Far more enjoyable for me.

I just baulk at forking out £160 for a device that is coming six years old, and from reading some reviews not without it's problems. This sums up my thoughts exactly. Thanks for all your contributions, I think I've decided what I will do. Cateye strada smart (to mirror my phone) for £50 and a hrm. All in for a ton, if I want cadence, I'll buy the add on later, but I can tell when I'm slowing down

I tried using the Osmand maps yesterday whilst riding and found it frustrating as I couldn't see the screen easily through the plastic wallet the phone was in. Neither could I operate the thing with Sealskinz gloves on so I had to stop, remove phone from pouch, remove glove, then with all that done I may as well have a pee and something to eat whilst I'm at it....hardly a practical solution for navigation! Lenodd, I think this has been posted before on this thread: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0093GEFCG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00It gives speed and cadence, temperature distance etc, etc. I have a polar H7 btle HRM which pairs with my phone running Strava which I set going and forget about. THe H7 also transmits to a polar watch I have (FT1 I think) which is on the handlebars so I can see my heart rate. So speed, cadence and HR are all visible and Strava is doing its stuff on the phone. I did a 4 hour ride yesterday and used 30% battery with data on so that'll do me. Navigation wise I'm going to use the old fashioned technique of memorising the route and employ the mark 1 eyeball for sign spotting!!

Not read whole thread so someone may have mentioned this already, apologies if already mentioned. Does the original poster know the S4 works with ant+? I've got a Samsung phone with a similar build to the S4 (a Galaxy Note) and I can get it to work well with ANT+ but you need an ANT+ USB dongle and a USB OTG cable to connect the ANT+ dongle to the phone, plus some (free) apps from the Google Play store. If you search for ANT+ on the forum you should come across some more detailed posts on this bobcollege. If not, let me know. The Samsung Galaxy S4/S5 & the Note 3/4 are all ant+ capable, they all have ant+ radio built in so no dongle required. Phones must be on Android 4.3 or higher and work with limited software. I can confirm it works as tested my wifes S4 and my own S5 with Endomondo. Cheers

Yes, they're much easier to swap over from bike to bike and self calibrate and no messing about with a spoke magnet. Yes, i did the same and got the maps and installed them using DC's guide. I've since found the actual Garmin ones and added them too. Did these not come with the performance bundle? No, performance bundle is unit, hrm and speed/cadence sensor. No maps. Did you pay for the garmin maps? Are they any better than the free ones? Oh right, i see, thought it came with the maps too. I downloaded them from a torrent site. Wouldn't say they were any better, they changes colour at night and you can use them in automotive mode (3D type nav).

If you buy it all separately you'll drive the price down. Seen the head units going for next to nothing on eBay.
