Sean Yates signs for Tinkoff-Saxo as sporting director. Bobby Julich has signed for them too... Julich and Yates will re-unite with Dutchman Steven de Jongh at Tinkoff-Saxo. All three left Team Sky at the end of 2012 when the British team renewed its zero-tolerance policy in the wake of the Lance Armstrong scandal. At the time both Julich and and De Jongh admitted using EPO during their riding careers while Yates chose to retire. Yates rode with and then later directed Lance Armstrong, and although he denied ever doping during his career, Sky’s ‘no association with doping’ aim had to be strickly enforced after the team was left with egg on it’s face over Michael Barry’s admission . Yates was very much my first cycling hero as a kid. The first superdomestique, fastest TdF TT, baggy GB champion jersey in the peleton, poster of him on my wall and all that. As I've got older and I've seen the Eartha stick to him I've sadly removed him from my list of sports peeps I look up to. Aligning with Riise and Julich is the final straw for me.

So, what is Wiggins up to? From what the press are suggesting, he will compete in the Paris-Roubaix in April for Sky, and then leave to set up his own team. Seems strange.
Wiggins is a very marketable chap, I am sure sponsors would queue up to back his team, and I am also sure that any team he set up would sell a lot of replica jerseys!

Hopefully the straw that breaks the camels back. Shame for Nibali though - though all the Astana doping is getting pretty darned suspicious.

True, even though Nibali would have been tested, tested and tested again on the way to TDF victory (and no issue found)you have to question if any of the team that helped him get that victory where getting any performance benefits from dubious sources

If the strategy was to use a bunch of EPO'd up domestiques sacrificially (in terms of career and race) to tow their 'clean' man to the finish where he gets to use his 'natural powers', then you have to admire the thinking - dodgy but genius! Also kind of a scathing stand and strategy to make a point on what might actually be happening in the peloton also - the winners get tested the most, the diesel engine domestiques not so much, it's logical to look for the weakness / opportunity in the system and try to 'enhance' your chances, aiming at where you do your 'boosting' ... an interesting development. 'Marginal gains'? ... it's still cheating of course, Lance would be proud - if you're going to go for it on the rule bending front and risk going down for it, then may as well do it properly, make a point and do it in style !

Because of the B'Twin link, we're (sort of) duty bound to support them... so here is the FDJ.fr 2015 kit: Who else thinks that white bibs are a really bad idea?

Exactly what I queried on the FDJ Facebook page.

That is not a nice kit. If the World Champion shouldn't wear white shorts then nobody should.
