Maybe a stupid question but as newbie to this I thought IDE ask. When pedalling up hill is the technique to put in extra force in pulling the pedal up . I.e. Using a decent amount of pulling force benefiting from being clipped in. God does anybody know what I am trying to ask !

You're not or the pedals wouldn't turn - you can change the emphasis but no need to go OTT, try it on rises first.

I tried on my last ride out , almost had to really think about it , didn't come easily. Practice practice practice . But with a 5 day old i think my time for practice is limited !

being playing around with my pedal stroke. trying toe down vs heel down and trying to pull my legs up... I think there is a lot of worth in just "messing about" trying out different things.
