I picked these up about a month ago, but haven't used them as I had only been doing short commutes until today.
I was looking for a decent pair of bibshorts - I wasn't keen to have to buy twice due to going for a cheaper pair that wear out quickly. The fact that the FDJ.fr team use these shorts is a massive selling point and when they went down to Β£31.99 in the decathlon sale, I couldn't resist.
I went for the black/blue colours as they nicely matched my triban 5. If I'm honest, I'm not a fan of the white patches, I tend to think that cycling shorts should be fairly plain black - but I guess I am just being a little old school. They look fantastic on - I wore them today with a pain black tight fitting winter cycling top. I'm not sure whether I like the matching aerofit 900 top, but may be convinced to buy as I see it is in the Decathlon sale at the moment!
Onto performance; these are my first pair of bibshorts so I didn't know what to expect. I forgot I was wearing them, which is a real sign of comfort. Being my first pair of bibs, it was brilliant not to have to keep pulling up my cycling shorts to hide the builders bum that appears every few kilometres! For that alone they are a vast improvement on what I had before. I love the elasticated bit at the bottom of the leg - much better than the silicone grips that are on most cycling shorts - no discomfort at all and the shorts didn't ride up my leg once.
I had read a review on these shorts on road.cc before buying. The review was mainly positive, but was critical of the pad for being too thick. I'm not sure I agree with this; I did have some discomfort, but I think that was because I was on my first proper ride in a long while. I'll keep an eye on this.
Overall, I thought the bibs were great - I can't see myself buying 'non-bib' cycling shorts again. Highly recommend.
