Sorry if this has been asked before or if it sounds stupid, but I read people commenting on Strava? I have no idea what you are talking about, I am new to road biking and use my wifes Garmin forerunner 10 to record my rides at the moment, the main function of the forerunner is for people who run. Would strava be useful?

Do you want to track your progress and achievements and share them on here? You already have the hardware required (Garmin) just have a read here for more info www.strava.com/how-it-worksThen set up a free strava account and upload your rides

Strava is to cyclists what mapmyrun etc is to runners. It's a web based service that allows you to upload your rides for analysis after. Some use it to simply track how far they have been and how fast. It's fun and can be handy for tracking your progress.
Sign up at strava.com. You will be able to upload your rides there.

Thanks for the advice, I will log on and have a look. Just want to keep a record as the important thing for me at the moment is to clock up the miles.

If you are a bit geeky for stats (what me?), www.veloviewer.com does almost everything premium does for free, plus a load of other cool stuff (including the signitures like mine).

Also, other sites use the strava info to do a lot of different stuff. Apart from Veloviewer, my other favourite is www.jonathanokeeffe.com/strava/map.php - maps every journey you've uploaded. eg

Not sure about how much life revolves around trying to increase my VV score though. I wondered if it ever went down, until the other day! Still, that was encouragement to get out and try and get it back up again.

You might need to rest your signature in the profile section as it hasn't come through there. I find the signature seems to get stuck from time to time.
