As more and more riders come into Istanbul, the 'story' now seems to be more about the stragglers. Many will miss the official cut-off time for the 'race' finish (this sunday I think). What will they do when that happens? Will they continue even though it won't be officially recognised or will they just on a train/plane to the end/back to London/their home?

There's a spirit if the race award and two main contenders stayed behind with one of the first riders to get injured before leaving the Alps in Northern Italy. They won't make it by the cut off.

Looking forward to some of the ride stories going up on the blog as they did last year.

I'm following mainly on this fb group now. Also following some on twitter. Its becoming more difficult to follow on the main tracker page since many of the trackers are failing.

Dudd has 210 miles to ride, 1 border to cross, and 31 hours to do it before the cut-off. Nailbiter! He should do it, but it's going to be close!

As well as the trackers that have battery issues it's a little confusing when the riders that have finished are still being tracked around the city of Istanbul. It looks like the intrepid Mikko Makipaa is on the wander again maybe on a tour of Turkey.

I finally twigged about halfway through. Its not 'the latest blog' at all, but a summary of the 2013 event.

It is a report of this year's race up to Control Point 3. Its dated the 3rd September 2014. You must be reading the wrong bit.

Thanks gents. If last year's account is anything to go by we can look forward to some more tales of heroics, mechanicals and navigation mayhem as the blog posts catch up.

I was fortunate to go on a ride with Dobbsy (rider #99) last Sunday on the club run. £2k it cost him, plus £1400 on equipment repairs - ouch! Missus permitting, he'll be back next year to finish it.
