If clearance or tread profile is an issue you could always try a bullet proof touring tyre like the Schwalbe marathons www.chainreactioncycles.com/schwalbe-marathon-touring-tyre-greenguard/rp-prod69133They do them down to 25c. They are a little on the heavy side but the pair I had on my old tourer (32c I think) solved lots of problems I was having, and have lasted so well that I'm likely to swap them onto my Cyclo-X ready for commutes to work as the stock tyres are a bit too knobbly for the road in my estimation. The plan is then to be able to explore some of the off road options through the New Forest which are a bit too hairy for the T3 with 23c slicks, though I have tried a few shortish off road sections on the T3 and so far come off unscathed, but only if I slow right down.

As most have said.. The paths look pretty good. Just take care, you don't want to end up in the canal.

Hi thanks for your reply and I think as most have said if I take care and slow down a little all should be well, its strange really as I worry about the towpath but the worst bit is a small bridge that lets the barges back in to the bay were they are stored and this has to be raised manually and its made of wood and I have pulled more cyclists out of the canal when its been wet than I can remember, slippery as hell it is and a real bad design for cyclists best wishes Brian. ps here are a few more pics of canal, one was taken whilst still dark so you cant see much but I like it .

Hi thanks again for your input and tomorrow at work I will take a look at the bullet proof touring tyre like the Schwalbe marathons because I know my mate has these on his bike, thanks again Brian.

I would suggest 25s Schwalbe too. Cheapest would be the Lugano but the Marathons are the best way to go.
