I know nothing of them. What to buy?
I've a £25 Wiggle voucher too, but not too bothered about using that for them.
Certainly not interested in the expensive Assos stuff.

Aeron race are a good buy. Miles better than the basic Aerons and about 2/3 as good as the Aaron Pros.

www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-trace-bib-short/I bought them and they are pretty comfortable, though not done a huge ride in them yet. seem to be pretty damned similar and on a special at the moment that'll be just £2.50 with that voucher.

Vermarc. Best kit around in my opinion. :-)

I ordered the Aeron pro ones from Wiggle, they just came and the shoulder straps are narrow, so dig in a bit, the seams are uncomfortable and chunky and the material is slightly itchy. Too many gaps in the pad too in my opinion, will make for lots of creasing and pinching. Trying these instead www.chainreactioncycles.com/endura-fs260-pro-bib-shorts/rp-prod71001

Haven't had any issues with the seams myself. Like all things with bike gear though it seems to take a few tries to find what works best for you.

Never really much info on the pads in the descriptions.

On higher end shorts you will notice a lot of grooves, odd shapes and multiple levels of thickness in the pads. Good shorts or an expensive risk unfortunately.

I'm very impressed by the 500 bibs from Decca reduced to £15.99

I've not tried the 900s myself, my brother used some riding LE-JOG last month and was pleased with them. I got some winter longs a couple of years ago which used the same gel pad and they do give a bit more cushioning, but I'm not sure they'd be as breathable or absorbant in this hot weather. The 900s are closer fitting, the edges of the bibs are much flatter, I've tried a top on and think I'd go up a size. When I first saw someone wearing them with the matching jacket I thought they had a skinsuit on. My first ride in the 500s was 70miles and I found them perfectly comfortable so for £16 I highly recommend them, if you need extra cushioning or just like to buy the best then go for the 900s they should last you for years so the extra isn't really that much.

I have a pair of 900s but was going to get another pair or a pair of 700s, which have the same pad as the 900. I haven't seen or tried the 500 though. I wonder whether the pad is only as good as the Lidl specials?

I've tried Lidl shorts in the past but they didn't fit well and the shape of the pad wasn't comfortable. I'd rate the 500s well above Lidl and actually prefer them to my £50 Giordana ones. This may be subjective depending on fit though.
