Had a bit of a disaster on Saturday. Was 105km into 180km charity cycle when I had a problem with my bike.
I'm not 100% sure what happened first but I ended up with a
broken spoke (rear) Slightly buckled wheel rear cage split from derailleur & bent Chain damaged
The mechanics doing running repairs seemed to think the spoke must have went first & got caught in the chain. This caused the cage to split as I was peddling.
I had no problem with the wheel before so think the damage to this was as result of me falling as everything locked up on me.
Has anyone any experience of things like this happening. I need to contact Decathlon tomorrow to see what's covered under warranty as bike is only 5 months old

BTwin wheels have a 2 year warranty. I would expect it to be covered, if they will agree it was a mechanical failure that caused the damage.

Personally Decathlon have been outstanding with my servicing. My rear free wheel hub went kaput (probably due to the clear lack of greasing). They fixed that without a qualm which was 8 months in, and just last week a spoke went causing me to wobble off and damage the seat post/forks (I was dabbling with the SPD strength and couldn't clip out! shhh!) which was all fixed without question.

From personal experience I can confirm wheels are covered and I also echo arran123's views about the outstanding customer service, regarding wheels at any rate. My original rear wheel was making grinding noises - usual problem, overtightened and not enough grease. No quibble, Deca simply replaced it with a better wheel, one that comes with the Triban 7. Even more amazing, it went out of true and the workshop manager said these btwin wheels and below tend to be like this and all the new ones were the same. I said I wasn't happy, and I was then astounded to be offered a free replacement Mavic Aksium wheelset. I've had a number of problems with Decathlon but this more than makes up for them! PS - They're currently doing the Aksiums for a very good price anyway: www.decathlon.co.uk/aksium-road-wheel-set-black-id_8164046.html

If you do then get the numpty that proves the rule then politely ask to speak to the store manager. They really do seem to have a great company customer service ethos

You're absolutely right about asking to speak to management volcanicflash. The Surrey Quays store are pretty familiar with me now and the workshop manager knows I will only allow him to work on my bike because of all the problems I've had with other mechanics. My impression of Decathlon is of excellent management who generally bend over backwards to resolve problems once they are aware of them, but unfortunately this ethos is not shared by some of the more junior staff.

Thanks for the replies. Been talking with Decathlon on the phone as its a couple of hours drive away.
They need to see the bike as expected to say whether it's covered or not. They did say worst case I'd have to buy parts but they would fit free of charge.
Hopefully get up to the store in the next week. No spin this weekend for me.

Took my bike to Belfast Decathlon today. Was well looked after & they replaced everything for free under warranty . New Rear derailleur, chain & back wheel.
As it was covered I treated myself to some Mavic Aksium wheels. They took off the price of a real wheel as well so very pleased with the service. Looking for forward to trying them out soon.
Good folk who know their bikes working there also.
