Hi I often use my bike for travelling along the canal toe paths as quite often they are as good as the road surfaces, the one thing I am never sure about is, do I keep the chain drive, cassette nearly dry of lubrication because of the ash that I some times encounter or do I treat it exactly the same as I would using the road, or maybe some may think a road bike is not really suited for canal tow path . Brian.
And stunning Westport lake running parallel to the canal, also pic of my old Raleigh banana bike

That's the best looking towpath I've ever seen. If I could see my local one through the nettles I'm certain it wouldn't be in that good nick!

Hi there's miles of tow paths like the one in the pic in stoke on Trent cutting through beautiful country side and the surface nearly matches the road, folk think stoke on trent is a land of smoke from the old bottle kilns and iron foundry well a ride along our wonderful canals would soon change there minds, Brian.
