Wasn't production moved from Italy due to the corrosive effects of volcanic ash?

Wasn't production moved from Italy due to the corrosive effects of volcanic ash? I think that might be the case but labour cost is the more likely reason. There was a thread on this subject over a year ago but I am struggling to find it now.

Hi Bandit,
I guess you're referring to the lowest line of characters on that sticker? ;-)
Having cleaned mine on Sunday, I noted that it is indeed Italian, for what it's worth. So clearly that's not the reason you went all upper case on us!

Yes, mine's UC as well. Sorry I missed the "Sizzler". I had every intention of coming but a number of factors, mainly the start time, ruled it out.

Wasn't production moved from Italy due to the corrosive effects of volcanic ash? Now that's very harsh...

Just wondered. What does "made" mean in this context? Is it where the frame was made or where the whole thing was assembled? I'd always assumed the former, I don't know why, mainly because that's where the sticker was, but I realise now that that was a bit naive to say the least. But it's not that simple. If they build it from components somewhere, how do those components arrive and where are they made? Do the wheels come in as whole wheels (with the bearings done up too tight and no grease )? Or where they built from hubs up where the sticker says they were done?
